The Hawaii County Civil Defense along with Hawaiian Volcano Observatory have conducted a series of community outreach meetings to notify Puna area residents of changes to the flow of lava from Puʻu ʻŌʻō vent. Meetings were held on Sunday evening with residents of Ka’ohe Homestead in Pāhoa and again on Monday and Tuesday with the general public. Another community meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 28 at the Pahoa Community Center at 6:30pm.
These are community outreach meetings for education and awareness of recent lava activity. There is no immediate threat to homes in the Puna area.
Below are a number of resources available to keep you informed of the current lava flow as well as how to be notified in the event that the lava begins to pose a threat to property. Please share this information with your clients as you see fit.
