Hawai‘i Island REALTORS® “HIR” membership is open to brokers and salespersons of the real estate profession.

As a REALTOR® member of HIR, the local real estate board on the Big Island of Hawai‘i, you automatically gain membership to the Hawai’i Association of REALTORS® (state level) and the National Association of REALTORS® and have access to the many member benefits.

Industry professionals in related businesses are also welcome to join our Business Partner – Affiliate Member Program.

REALTOR® Membership Application

The various options for membership in the Hawai’i Island REALTORS® are as follows:

Actively licensed individuals who, as sole proprietors, partners, corporate officers, or branch office managers, are engaged actively in the real estate profession, including buying, selling, exchanging, renting or leasing, managing, appraising for others for compensation, counseling, building, developing or subdividing real estate, and who maintain or are associated with an established real estate office in the state of Hawai’i.

This category is for individuals or firms who, while not engaged in the real estate profession, have interests requiring information concerning real estate and are supportive of the Board’s objectives.

Individuals licensed or certified to engage in the practice of real estate who do not elect to hold REALTOR® membership in the Board may join in this category, provided they are engaged exclusively in a specialty of the real estate business other than brokerage of real property.

Access to Hawai’i Information Service Multiple Listing Service is available to members who are REALTORS® and are affiliated with a firm that also subscribes to the MLS.

REALTOR® Membership Renewal
The MARKS:
REALTOR®, REALTORS®,
and the REALTOR® Logo

The National Association is the proud owner of numerous marks including but not limited to the terms REALTOR®, REALTORS®, the REALTOR® Logo and the Block “R” mark (which may be referred to collectively as the “MARKS”). The Marks are collective membership marks which serve to identify Members of the National Association and distinguish them from non-members*. Since 1916, when the unique term REALTOR® was first “coined” or “invented”, the public has come to recognize those who use the MARKS as Members of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® and, as such, providers of real estate related services consistent with a strict Code of Ethics and the highest standards of professionalism. Member Boards**, through their use of the MARKS, are recognized as Member organizations.

Members are licensed by the National Association to use one or more of the MARKS in connection with or in reference to themselves and their real estate businesses.
